A man goes to work at 8:00 am, every morning, for 20 years. After 20 years of getting nowhere, and with no future in sight, he attends an opportunity meeting. “Wow!” he says. “This is my opportunity to be RICH.” He works hard for 30 days in his new opportunity and then quits because he didn’t get rich in 30 days!
Why do many people quit after 30 days? This same man worked hard for 20 years with no future (and still goes to work every day), yet he’ll only give his NEW opportunity 30 days.
Why not prime our new EAGER friends with a little dose of reality? We could say:
“You can’t be an engineer in 30 days. You have to take four or five years of college. Then, all you really have is a skill that will get you a job working for someone else.”
You can’t be a doctor without eight or so years of schooling, plus a grueling internship. Then, when you are finally through with schooling, you begin your career about $100,000 in debt for your education.
In networking, you can’t build your empire overnight. This is a profession that will take some time to master. Fortunately, you won’t have to spend thousands of dollars in tuition, and four to eight years of your life, before you can start earning an income. Many distributors start earning a net profit in 1 to 6 months.
Let’s start setting some long term goals for our career, okay?
Most people are intelligent enough to see this opportunity will require training and effort. They won’t be turned off by the truth, and you can keep your Associates a lot longer than 30 days if you give them the REAL story.
Of course, there is a group of people that will quit anything, no matter how great the opportunity. They quit school, they quit jobs, they quit their marriage and they give up on life. LEAVE THESE FOLKS FOR YOUR COMPETITION TO DEAL WITH. They’ll keep your competition busy while you’re out locating the REAL potential superstars of NETWORKING!
